CODE OF PRACTICE

Harper's Hounds shall practice with integrity, responsibility and trustworthiness and shall recognise their responsibility to their clients, clients’ pets, clients’ property, and society in general. The welfare of clients’ dogs shall be paramount and shall not be made subordinate to commercial consideration. 

Harper's Hounds shall maintain professional relationships with their clients and shall not exploit such relationships for improper personal, professional or financial gain, nor seek inappropriately to impose their own values on clients. Harper's Hounds shall not disclose any personal or private information about their clients.

Harper's Hounds shall only transport dogs under their care with permission of the owner and  in accordance with existing legal requirements Highway Rule 57. Confirmed permission is given by the owner on completion of the booking form unless stated otherwise. 

Harper's Hounds shall keep safe the provided records of all current dogs under their care for immediate reference i.e. contact details, feeding, exercise and veterinary details in case of emergency. 

Harper's Hounds shall abide by all current Health and Safety legislation.
Harper's Hounds shall abide by all National, Local Laws and Bylaws.

Harper's Hounds will:

  • Hold sufficient and appropriate public liability insurance.

  • Work in accordance with ALL national and local animal welfare and environmental legislations.

  • Ensure a risk assessment is carried out prior to all sessions.

  • Assess each dog’s suitability for exercise sessions and sleepovers such as age, capability and behaviour. 

  • Keep all dogs in our care under control at all times.

  • Ensure all dogs in our care wear safe and correctly fitted collars or harnesses.

  • Ensure all dogs in our care are micro-chipped.

  • Ensure all dogs in our care are transported in a safe and secure manner.

  • Carry a mini dog first aid kit at all times.

  • Not use any form of corporal punishment for dogs in our care.

  • Ensure a procedure is in place for any unforeseen situation or emergency such as fire, flood, first aid and  infectious disease.
